Boho-chic Coast Extension / 4 Days Itinerary

José Ignacio is to Uruguayans as the Hamptons are to New Yorkers; a chic retreat from city life that exudes barefoot elegance. Uruguay’s tiny beach town has a distinctly South American bohemian charm that will captivate you. Don’t miss to pre-book all the must-do experiences in the area!

DAY 1: PUNTA DEL ESTE
Discover Punta del Este on a private city tour with a picnic at the Atchugarry Sculpture Park. Visit the iconic Casapueblo, designed by artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, and explore Mansa Beach with its pirate legends near Gorritti Island. Stroll through the marina to see sea lions, cross the famous wavy bridge of La Barra, and enjoy the charm of its local shops and antique stores. The day ends with a relaxing lunch amid art and nature at the Atchugarry Foundation.

DAY 2: ESTANCIA ANASTASIO
After breakfast, transfer to Estancia Anastasio for a bike ride along rural trails and past private estancias to the Anastasio Stream. From there we will kayak to the lagoon! This lagoon has an outlet to the sea during winter months and is a veritable bird paradise with flamingos, swans, herons and storks among others. We will enjoy a traditional picnic lunch and bike back to Jose Ignacio. This tour can be changed for Horseback riding instead of Bike riding.

DAY 3: BODEGA GARZON
Transfer to Bodega Garzón, for a Tour with Lunch and Tasting: Visit to Garzon, the “Uruguayan Tuscany” The tour begins with a visit to the sleepy town of Garzon, where we will stop at the main square, chapel and train station. Continue onto Garzon Winery for a visit with tasting and lunch included. Built atop a rocky outcrop, the winery offers amazing views of the vineyards perched on the hillside with mineral intense, well-draining soils that create high-quality grapes. After lunch, transfer back to your hotel.

DAY 4: PUNTA DEL ESTE
Breakfast
Private transfer (no guide) to the airport of Punta del Este.

Visiting Punta del Este offers a perfect blend of art, nature, and culture. Casapueblo, created by artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, is not only an architectural gem but also a tribute to Uruguay’s creative spirit. The beaches and marina showcase the region’s coastal beauty and marine life, while La Barra’s bridge and charming towns reflect local traditions and craftsmanship. Ending the tour at the Atchugarry Sculpture Park allows visitors to connect with contemporary art in a serene natural setting.
