Ecuador Info

The Ecuadorian Coast is visited by few international tourists, despite its stunning beaches and delicious seafood. The country’s outstretched coastline offers many spectacular sites, among which are the Machalilla National Park and Isla de la Plata. During the summer months, majestic humpback whales pass this part of the Pacific Coast. Also, the country’s largest city, Guayaquil, is located in the coastal area, only a few hours’ driving from beautiful tropical beaches.

Isla de La Plata

The Andes Mountains offer breathtaking landscapes of snow-capped volcanoes, lakes, and valleys, and have beautiful UNESCO heritage sites, like the colonial cities Quito and Cuenca. This is the area where Quichua people work their land and go to weekly markets, allowing visitors to gain authentic cultural experiences.

Flower Market

The most famous destination of Ecuador is without doubt Galapagos. This enchanting archipelago is unique because of the different species that live nowhere else in the world. Among them, travelers will find marine iguanas, birds, and different types of giant tortoises. Every visitor gets amazed by the stunning volcanic landscapes that characterize the Galapagos Islands. On top of beautiful nature, the islands also have an interesting human history with stories of voyagers, pirates, and prisoners.

A large part of Ecuador is covered by the Amazon Rainforest, and it takes only a few hours to reach the jungle from Quito, the capital. The national parks Cuyabeno and Yasuni are breathtaking areas where visitors can spot river dolphins, caimans, monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. Even closer to Quito, around Tena, tourists can explore another part of the lush green rainforest and visit Amazon communities.
