DAY 2: PARQUE NACIONAL LOS ARRAYANES
The Los Arrayanes National Park occupies the Quetrihué Peninsula in Lake Nahuel Huapi, Neuquén Province, covering 1,796 hectares within the Patagonian Forest ecoregion. It was once part of Nahuel Huapi National Park and still shares its conservation management, headquartered in San Carlos de Bariloche.

Nearby, Victoria Island—the lake’s largest—offers trails, forests, and the only freshwater cormorant colony in the region. Visitors reach it by boat from Puerto Pañuelo, continue to Puerto Quetrihué, and walk through the famous Bosque de Arrayanes, declared a Natural Monument, before returning to Bariloche.

Nahuel Huapi National Park, created in 1903, is Argentina’s first and largest, spanning 717,261 hectares across Neuquén and Río Negro. It protects diverse ecosystems—forests, steppes, mountains, and lakes—while integrating Creole settlers, Mapuche communities, and tourists in a model of coexistence between nature conservation and human development.
